RARE SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1 FIRST ISSUE 1ST TYPE REVOLVER. Cal. 22 Short. Very rare revolver with 3-3/16” ribbed oct bbl, brass frame with square butt and 2-pc rosewood grips. First type rotating recoil shield and the unfluted cylinder with White’s patent markings. Latch is the original bayonet type and may be an old replacement. SN 21. CONDITION: Good. All matching including the grips. Bbl retains 20-25% thin flaked blue with fine surface rust and light pitting. Frame retains about 20% original dull silver primarily on the left side. Cylinder is a light gray patina with scattered pitting with about half the patent line visible. Grips are fine and retain 20-30% original varnish. Bore is strong with good shine and scattered pitting. Grip screw is possibly a replacement. Hammer will not hold at full cock, otherwise mechanics are fine. 4-48061 JR155 (Anderson Collection) (8,000-15,000)
