COLT MODEL 1860 PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 44. SN 54203. Usual configuration with 8” rnd bbl, German silver front sight blade, 1-line New York address, rebated cylinder with naval battle scene, brass trigger guard and iron back strap with 1-pc walnut grips. It is accompanied by a fine mahogany or teak brass bound case with compartments for the revolver, flask, mold and cap tin. The lid has a large brass shield and has English style sliding locks on the front with a mortised key lock with large shield escutcheon. It has a linen covered bottom. Also accompanied by an undated, unsigned letter in shaky handwriting transferring this revolver to Mr. Owens with the seller stating that he purchased it in 1925 and that the previous owner had it reblued in 1924. CONDITION: Very good. All matching including the wedge. Overall retains most of this old reblued finish with some light pitting on the frame. Cylinder retains 25-30% naval battle scene. Grips have a flat on each side, which have obliterated the cartouches. Otherwise they are sound with a nice hand rubbed polish. Mechanics are crisp with a very bright shiny bore and one or two scattered spots of light rust. Case is fine with light surface scratches and a ding on one corner of the lid. Flask is extremely fine with one small dent on the front and another smaller one on the back. Retains most of its dark original finish with bright brass on the cap and angle spout and most of the blue on the spring. Mold is fine with blue-gray finish. 4-53029 JR675 (1,000-2,000)
