LOT OF TWO EARLY BRASS HANDLE BAYONETS. 1) Unmarked blade with only the date “1862” on the left ricasso. The yaghtahan blade is 25-1/2” with 1-pc cast brass handle with a 29/32” barrel loop and quillion with ball end. The handle is numbered “4365” on the back and has an iron catch. It also has the number “44” stamped on the left side. Accompanied by an original type leather and brass scabbard. CONDITION: The blade is fine with some light discoloration, retaining good original shine. The handle is a medium mustard patina. The scabbard is sound with crackled surface and dark brown brass. 2) 22-3/8” yaghtahan blade marked on the left ricasso “Collins & Co. / Hartford / Conn” and “1862” on the right side. It has one piece brass handle with 15/16” barrel loop with an iron pin through the handguard. CONDITION: Good to very good, the blade is a light gray patina with scattered light surface rust and a couple spots of heavy pitting. The brass handle has a medium patina with a dent on the pommel. 4-48964 JR738 (400-700)
