CASED J. BLANCH & SON HAMMER DOUBLE RIFLE. SN 4579. Cal. 577 BPE. 26″ Damascus bbls with fine bead front sight, and 3-leaf lay down rear express sight. Top rib engraved, “J. Blanch & Sons. 29. Grace Church St. London.” with narrow band of engraving around chambers. Under-rib equipped with sling loop. Under-lever action with back action locks, and bolted hammers are engraved in very fine foliate arabesque scroll. Mounted with semi fancy walnut with checkered forend and black tip insert, checkered pistol grip to metal engraved grip cap, left side cheek piece, engraved steel shotgun butt, and toe line with sling swivel loop and silver engraving oval with stag and the initials, “P.Y.G” engraved. Housed in a vintage leather case with a few pieces of brass and bullets. CONDITION: Very fine as restored. Bbls retain a very nice even brown Damascus pattern with some minor muzzle wear, and a few light handling marks. Receiver and locks retain nearly all of a very fine restored case color finish. Stocks are sound with very minor light handling marks and retain nearly all of their fine hand rubbed oil restored finish. Butt plate has 50-60% orig blue mostly with just sharp edge wear. Case is solid but shows a lot of wear on the leather and has four labels stuck to the top lid. Mechanics are good, and bores are shiny with just some very light scattered pitting in the grooves. 4-32164 BDT156 (7,000-10,000)
