*DBL RIFLE DRILLING WITH EXTRA SET OF REGULAR DRILLING BBLS BY HANNS KORN OF SAARBRUCKEN. SN 218. Cal. The first set of bbls are 8x57R x by 16g over 8x57R. Second set of bbls are 16×16 over 8x57R. This unusual drilling has a left shotgun bbl, a right rifle bbl, and another rifle bbl in the normal under position. This is so you can use the single set trigger for both rifle bbls. The 26″ double rifle bbls are marked with a maker’s name and address and show proofs for 2-1/2″ shotgun chamber and 8x57R rifles. The proof date is January of 1924. The regular drilling bbls are 26-3/4″ long with the same proofs and proof dates. The dbl rifle bbls have a folding rear sight and a transverse dovetailed silver bead front. The regular drilling bbls have a rear sight that pops up when the gun is put into rifle mode. The action has a Greener cross bolt, dual under lugs, and side clips. It is engraved about 50% with open scroll and of small scroll and punch borders. The fences are filed with scroll engraved flutes. There are slight reinforcing bolsters at the angle of the standing breech. There are three silver cocking indicators at the top rear of the action, and the rifle selector on the tang is marked with an “S” and a “K” for shot and ball. The safety is a Greener type on the left side of the stock. The front trigger is a set trigger, and the trigger guard is of horn. The slightly figured European walnut pistol grip stock measures 13-7/8″ over a grooved horn butt plate. The stock has a cartridge trap at the toe, a sling eye, cheek piece for right-handed shooter, and a fluted horn grip cap. Forend has a Deeley release, and stocks are checkered in a point pattern. Bore diameter: right double rifle N/A. Drilling bbls 677, left double rifle bbls 675 . Drilling bbls 675. Bore constrictions: right double rifle bbl N/A, drilling bbl .042. The left bbl of drilling barrel .032. Wall thickness: right double rifle bbls N/A drilling bbls .028, left double rifle bbls left .026 drilling bbls .025. Drop at comb: 1-1/2″, drop at heel: 2-3/8″. Weight:.double rifle bbls 8lbs 4-1/2ozs. Drilling bbls 7lbs 9ozs. Gun comes in homemade oak case with blue blanket lining. CONDITION: Both sets of bbls show 95+% of their original blue. The bottom bbl of the dbl rifle set has some pitting toward muzzle. Bores are bright and shiny. Rifle bores are very fine. The action retains 40-50% of its original case color turning gray toward bottom of action and back of tang. Stock show 90%+ original oil finish, and have initials “OR” stamped on both sides of the butt stock. All horn parts are in fine condition. Checkering is slightly worn and a bit dirty.
