RARE EVANS RIFLE MADE FOR EXHIBITION. Cal. 44. 30” octagonal bbl. The only number on this rifle is a number 1 on the right side of the rear bbl platform. The top of the bbl is marked “EVANS REPEATING RIFLE MECHANIC FALLS, ME PAT. DEC.8. 1868 & SEPT.16, 1871”. The rear sight is made from a trapdoor Springfield sight which as been trimmed on the base. This rifle is entirely nickel-plated. The leather sling is unmarked. CONDITION: Excellent with only minor flakes of nickel missing. Wood has some scratches and dents but is still solid. Sling is poor. Action is fine. 4-52666 FS128 (3,000-4,000)
