FREDERICK DANIEL HARDY (British, 1826-1911) “MOTHERLESS”. Oil on board interior scene shows four children near the cooking fire, one girl being consoled by another. The interior setting is finely detailed with a mantle full of items as well as furniture and fireplace accessories. The door is open and a man with cane approaches. Signed lower right “F D Hardy” and dated “1901”. Housed in a fine gold gesso decorated frame retaining a John Linn & Sons Scarborough label and a Misckelson’s Washington, D.C. label. SIZE: 8″ x 11-3/4″. CONDITION: Very good with masking varnish. 9-92624 (8,000-12,000)
