Oil on canvas scene shows a black man wearing blue pants, white shirt and straw hat chopping a large tree with other trees in background. Unsigned front. Pencil inscribed on back cardboard “Alfred Hutty Clearing the Grove”. Housed in a decorated carved wood frame. SIZE: 14” x 11”. CONDITION: Relined and mounted on cardboard. Restored tear at left of tree trunk. Inpainting, craquelure. 9-97418 (2,500-3,000)
