WILLIAM MULREADY (Irish, 1786-1863) IRISH FARM LIFE. Fine oil on canvas scene shows a central figure of a boy seated on a stumpy area whittling a stick. He is well clothed with red vest, blue jacket and matching pants and wearing a plaid cap. Over his shoulder is his mother who has a pail and stands next to two large cows. Beyond is the connected log cabin looking out over a valley with river and green valley floor. Above the low hills is a sunset sky with puffy white clouds. Signed lower right lightly “W Mulready”. Housed in a large gesso decorated frame having a leaf and flower motif. SIZE: 28-1/4″ x 24″. CONDITION: Relined, craquelure, inpainting, area of lifting paint off leg area.
