ATTRIBUTED TO EDWIN AUGUSTUS HARLESTON (American, 1882-1931) “COUNTING THE BLESSINGS”. Pencil signed and titled on back of canvas. Oil on canvas scene shows African-American older man and woman sitting at table with stacked money atop. Gentleman is counting on his fingers while wife holds dish towel and wears apron and hair scarf. Interior scene shows wall with grated window and hanging mirror. Other table articles on table. 19th/20th Century. Housed in what may be its original gesso decorated gilt frame (some gesso loss). SIZE: 16” x 24”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-96773 (1,500-2,000)
