*UNIQUE 20 BORE J. PURDEY & SONS SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN. SN 27257. A wonderful light and lively best quality field gun. Factory letter states that the gun was completed in September 1965 with 26″ ventilated matted rib bbls with 2-3/4″ chambers, IMP. CYL/MOD chokes, dbl triggers, non-automatic safe, pistol grip stock, beaver tail forend, no checkering, and a stock length of 15-1/8.” The gun is currently checkered in a fancy fleur-de-lis pattern, reminiscent of the work of Dale Goens and has a Miller sgl selective trigger added. The well streaked and figured Circassian walnut pistol grip stock measures 14-7/16″ over Pachmayr Old English pad and has a blank gold oval. Bore diameter: right -.619, left -.619. Bore restrictions: right -.005, left -.027. Wall thickness: right -.028, left -034. Drop at comb: 1-1/4″, drop at heel: 1-3/4″. Weight:5lbs 12oz. Shotgun comes with its orig leather motor case with leather corners, Purdey label, and charge card. In the case are a leather pouch for brushes,mops, etc., 2-pc wood cleaning rod, oil bottle, empty striker bottle, 2 horn handled turnscrews, 1 pull-through cleaner and case, snap caps in a leather wallet, leather pouch with action cleaning brushes, broken case extractor, and key. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls show 95% of orig factory black, with most loss on left-hand breech area. Receiver shows 90% orig case colors with area forward of trigger guard and action beads turning silver. Most of orig factory varnish is present on action. Buttstock retains most of it’s handrubbed oil finish and shows a few light handling marks and dents. Forend is orig with later checkering. Trigger works very well and ejectors are in time. Bright shiny bores with perfect chambers. Most of fire blue is on the tumbler ends but is only 10% on safety button.
