*OUTSTANDING PURDEY BEST QUALITY DOUBLE RIFLE. SN 25036. Cal. .30 Flanged Nitro(Purdey). This is just a little hotter version of our 30-40 Krag. 25″ bbls with ramped hooded front sight, quarter rib with two leaf express rear sight. Bbl rib engraved, “J. Purdey & Sons Audley House, South Audley Street, London, England.” The quarter rib has a fine stippled top. Bbl flats are marked with usual proof marks, and 30 2.31″ marked Nitro proved. The reinforced receiver with side clips is engraved in usual Purdey floral bouquet, and fine foliate arabesque scroll with, “J. Purdey & Sons” engraved on center bottom of each plate. Bottom of receiver is engraved with, “J. Purdey & Sons. London, England” and is equipped with a bolted safety with, “BOLTED” and “SAFE” inlaid with gold. Mounted with dark fancy walnut with checkered splintered forend, checkered pistol grip with engraved steel grip cap, dropper point, oval left side cheek piece, 14-1/2″ to a solid Silvers type pad. With gold initial shield and toe line engraved with a large, “S” “MRB”, and sling swivels to match up with the underlug swivel on bbl. Housed in an oak and leather case with makers label and accessories. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 95-98% blue finish with just some minor muzzle wear, and a few minor scratches. Receiver has 70-75% case colors with wear on the sharp edges and on high spots to a silver/patina. Stock is solid with a minor hairline crack off of top tang, a few minor nicks and dings, but retains 80% of a fine hand rubbed finish with wear through the grip area. Checkering is good but slightly worn. Forend is solid with a hand worn patina finish, and good but slightly worn checkering.
