AMES MODEL 1850 FIELD OFFICER’S SWORD. An expecially fine example. The blade is marked “Ames Mfg. C / Chicopee / Mass. The same marking is stamped on the throat of the scabbard. 2/3 length etching in U.S. patterns. SIZE: 30-1/2” dbl fuller blade CONDITION: Appears to be unused with only minor handling marks. Most of the gold still in tact on exterior metal mounts. Handle with original metal wrap (small break in the wire wrap at top). The retaining screw for the drag is missing at the lower part of the scabard, black leather scabbard excellent with exception of minor scuffs and handling. 9-93549 (800-1,000)
