WILLIAM SHERIDAN YOUNG (American, -1870) PAIR OF LANDSCAPES. Small oil on canvas scenes as follows: 1) A cottage nestled amongst trees with fall foliage, small stream with fence and an oncoming dark cloud which silhouettes a flock of birds. Blue sky elsewhere. Signed lower right corner “WSY”. Also signed on back of canvas “WS Young” and dated. 2) A small mill next to low falls with pond has trees above and birds. A dark storm cloud is seen with lighter clouds beyond. Signed on back of canvas “WS Young” and dated. Both are identically housed in deep gilt gesso decorated period frames. SIZE: 8” x 6”. CONDITION: Light craquelure, minor restoration. Otherwise very good. 9-28932 (1500-2500)
