AMERICAN SILVER HILT PRAHL SABER. The D-guard type silver hilt has a disk pommel. The grip consists of numerous extremely fine silver wires, both braided and singles. The dbl. fuller curved blade is marked “PRAHL” on the ricasso. Leather scabbard with two of three silver mounts intact. SIZE: Blade is 28-3/4″, overall is 34-1/16″. CONDITION: Silver hilt is in fine condition, wire wrapping is complete with only a few wires slightly displaced from their original position. Blade has an overall dark and gray patina with numerous nicks to the cutting edge. The Prahl mark on the ricasso is legible except for the “P”. Leather scabbard is strong, but flaked overall and has been refinished. The top silver mount is missing, the middle mount appears to be missing a suspension ring, the tip is intact and solid. Scabbard has shrunk so as to not allow the sword to completely enter the scabbard. 4-48999 BF13 (15,000-18,000)
