RARE COSMOPOLITAN CIVIL WAR CARBINE. CAL. 54. SN: 950 with the number 45, probably an issue number on the bottom of the bbl and action. The number 919 is stamped on the lever and both halves of the breechblock. 20” part octagonal bbl, marked “COSMOPOLITAN ARMS CO” in an arch over “HAMILTON.O. U.S / GROSS’ PATENT / 1859” on the lockplate and “UNION / RIFLE” on the right side of the action. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina with moderate pitting around the nipple and at the rear of the bbl. Stock has normal handling marks. Action is fine. 4-52774 FS194 (2,000-3,500)
