EDMUND DARCH LEWIS (American, 1835-1910) NEW ENGLAND LANDSCAPE. Fine oil on canvas scene shows a woman with child walking alongside a small area of water with cows. Trees line the river bank with houses on the left hillside. A farm is in the distance at the base of a meadow lined mountain. All under a blue and white cloud sky. Signed lower right “E D Lewis”. J. F. Cabot & Brother Boston label and another Boston label is seen on reverse. Housed in a fine period gilt wood frame with gilt liner. PROVENANCE: Ex-Vose Galleries, Boston, 1941. SIZE: 10” x 20”.
