SETH W. STEWARD (American, 1844-1927) PANORAMIC VIEW OF MOOSEHEAD LAKE. Monumental oil on canvas panoramic scene overlooking Moosehead Lake from Blair Hill. The view shows from left to right Mt. Kineo, Burnt Jacket Mountain, Sugar Island, Beaver Cove, Lily Bay and Big Spencer Mountain. The nearby bay having a white sidewheel steamship. The foreground with a wood fence pasture with flock of sheep and large trees in fall colors. All under a blue and white cloud sky. Signed center lower right “Steward”. Housed in its original outstanding wide and deep period gesso decorated frame. This and the following lot are the finest examples of Stewards work that we have ever handled. It wonderfully depicts an area in Maine that has and still is visited for its natural beauty. SIZE: 28-1/2” x 49-1/2”.
