AMES JENKS NAVAL CARBINE. Cal. 54. SN 12/38. 24” part octagonal bbl, marked “Wm JENKS / N.E. AMES / SPRINGFIELD / MASS” on the lockplate and “Wm JENKS / USN / RC / P / 1845” on the top bbl flat. No visible cartouche. The loading cut out is oval and extends slightly past the lever. CONDITION: Smooth brown patina mixed with light pitting. Wood has been cleaned and revarnished after a repair at the wrist. Brass has a dark patina. Action is good. 4-52493 FS17 (2,500-3,500)
