VERY EARLY PIPE TOMAHAWK. Early hand forged trade tomahawk with 4-5/8″ x 2-3/4″ blade with a 1-1/2″ x about 1″ tapered pipe bowl on top and is 7-5/8″ overall length. It has an ovoid shape socket with a band around the bottom of the socket and raised pointed base for the pipe bowl over the top of the socket. It has what may be the orig haft that is 18″ overall length, tapered to the tip of the handle with a rnd stem section. It has a clean out hole in the head end and the hole under the pipe bowl is moderately charred. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Moderate pitting overall with forging hammer marks on the blade and light chips in the sharp edge. Bowl has a few light hammer marks. Haft is sound with a wonderful dark patina. 4-56541 JR330 (1,000-2,000)
