EXTREMELY RARE SMITH PATENT SPORTING RIFLE. CAL. 36. SN: 32. 25-3/4” oct bbl, marked on the left side of the receiver “GILBERT SMITH’S / PATENT 1867 / POULTNEY & TRIMBLE / BALTIMORE.MD.” Museum (?) numbers 1909 – 57 are painted on the left side of the stock, it is not known which museum this is. The checkered buttstock has shotgun buttplate. CONDITION: 50% blue turning brown on the bbl, 75% blue on the hammer. Bow of the triggerguard appears to be reblued. 4-52709 FS179 (5,000-10,000)
