EARLIEST MARK EJ JUMEAU DOLL. Stunning Jumeau from the 1880’s with the head incised, “9 (over) E.J.”, with the body stamped in blue on the torso “Jumeau Medaille D’Or Paris”. This lovely doll with a character face has lovely facial painting, mauve shading on the upper eyelids, dimple in chin, applied ears, gray-blue paperweight eyes and is on her original fully jointed wood and composition body with straight wrists and wears a re-made costume consisting of a burgundy pleated skirt and green, gold and burgundy brocade jacket. The maroon stockings as well as the leather shoes which are impressed “10 Paris Depose” are of Jumeau factory origin. She wears an antique brown human hair wig over cork pate and has a lovely antique straw bonnet with ecru lace and purple velvet trim. SIZE: 22″ (56cm).
