RARE IDENTIFIED AMES MODEL 1832 FOOT ARTILLERY SWORD. 19-1/8” triple fuller blade marked with an American eagle over “M.P. AMES / SPRINGFIELD” on the right ricasso “U.S / 1843 / CD” on the left. The inspector mark “W.A.T” appears on the left side of the cross guard and “W. CARMOR.” is engraved on the right. Carmor has not been researched. Leather scabbard with brass throat and tip. CONDITION: Gray patina on blade with scattered spots of pitting and staining. There is a large chip missing from the top of the blade and some small ones elsewhere. The hilt has a dark patina. Leather is partially un-sewn and has a crease near the tip, otherwise very good. The mounts match the hilt in patina. 4-48589 FS107 (Lowry Estate) (500-800)
