EXTREMELY RARE BALL MUSKET. Cal. 50 RF. 34-1/2” rnd bbl, marked “E.G. LAMSON & CO. / WINDSOR VT. / U.S. / BALLS PATENT. / JUNE.23 1863. / MAR….” on the left side of the receiver. The last part of the last line has been removed for the installation of the magazine cut-off. Only a few of these muskets are known. This one was obviously made from a carbine at the factory. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina mixed with light surface rust, pitting and traces of original finish. Wood has light handling marks. Rear sling swivel is missing.
