*RARE ITHACA NID 4E GRADE SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 433756. Cal. 10ga. 32″ steel bbl factory vent rib with ivory center and brass front sighting beads, 3-1/2″ chambers choke marked at FULL/FULL, sgl selective trigger and automatic ejectors. The Indicator model receiver is engraved with “Ithaca Gun Co.” and flying mallard on left side, “Ithaca, N.Y.” and standing rooster pheasant on right, remaining coverage is a flowery pattern with stipple background. Mounted with very fancy dark walnut, checkered beaver tail fore end with black insert, fleur-de-lis checkered pistol grip with black hard rubber grip cap, 14-5/8″ pull over black Pachmayr decelerator pad with a trap-style Monte Carlo. The stock is of factory quality with factory style checkering and would either be a later factory-made replacement or an extremely professional fashioned custom stock. Bore diameter: left -.775, right -.775. Bore restrictions: left -.046, right -.046. Wall thickness: left -.034, right -.036. Drop at heel: 2-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight:9lbs. 11oz. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains 85-90% orig blue with normal light nicks and dings and scratches and normal amount of muzzle wear. There is evidence that the gun orig had approximately a 2″ longer beaver tail fore end, as there is an outline of wear extending out past the current fore end. Receiver has 50-60% orig case hardening with the balance being silver patina with the color strongest in protected areas. The highly figured stock has only very minor handling marks and a very fine hand-rubbed oil finish. Beaver tail appears to be an orig Ithaca but is an apparent replacement. As noted, chambers measure 3-1/2″ and has most likely been opened up to this length. Still with factory sgl trigger and vent rib, this is an extremely rare Ithaca shotgun. Mechanics are good and bores are bright. 4-33255 BDT72 (4,000-7,000)
