WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 40-82 SN 113494 Standard grade carbine with 22” bbl, full magazine, square base front sight with short carbine ladder rear sight. Case colored receiver with a stud and ring in the left side. It has uncheckered wood with straight stock and carbine buttplate. Accompanied by Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this carbine and indicating shipment on February 16, 1898. The letter also states that apparently it was originally equipped with sling swivels and then they were “taken off”. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 96-97% strong original blue. Receiver retains 60-70% brilliant case colors overall with the bottom and part of the left side turned silver. Lever retains 50-60% strong case colors and the hammer about 95% bright case colors. Buttplate has traces of case colors with the balance turned silver. Wood is sound and retains most of its original factory finish with a few light nicks and dings. Mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bore. 4-52431 JR230 (12,500-17,500)
