ALEXANDR ALEKSANDROVICH KISELEV (Russian, 1838-1911) THE HARBOR OVERLOOK. Large unframed oil on canvas panoramic scene shows a single mast sailboat going left to right through a bay. Beach areas are seen on the right side with other sailboats dotting the shoreline. Foreground has a Gypsy camp with horses, people around a fire and covered wagon, presumably a traveling circus. A man is standing at the center foreground with a seated bear on leash. A large flock of birds is seen on left cliff edge and a bright setting sun is seen behind clouds and reflects in water. Signed in Cyrillic bottom right. PROVENANCE: Christies; Sale #5813. SIZE: 39-1/4” x 66-3/4”. CONDITION: Discolored varnish layer, minor inpainting. Generally very good. 9-90391 LG (5,000-8,000)
