INDIAN USED SHARPS NEW MODEL 1863 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 50 CF. SN 74355. Usual carbine with 22″ bbl that has been bored smooth, homemade brass blade Rocky Mountain front sight & Lawrence patent Sharps carbine ladder rear sight missing screw & slide. It has the pellet primer lockplate that has had entire top portion removed. Mounted with orig carbine wood that has a row of brass tacks down forearm & a triangle pattern of brass tacks on left side of buttstock at buttplate. Right side of buttstock has been altered by having nine grooves cut diagonally into wood with the more recent addition of part of an 18th century braided strap attached with brass tacks. This addition however, is only a replacement of what had been there. CONDITION: Fair to good. No orig finish remains with metal being a mottled gray/brown patina. Stock has numerous grain checks, nicks & gouges, with a crack on each side of tip of forearm and wood overall shows heavy wear with a hand polished very old patina.
