WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-90 SN 109070 Standard grade rifle with 26” oct bbl, full magazine, half-nickel front sight with screw and semi-buckhorn rear sight. It has uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent buttplate. Accompanied by a copy of the Cody Firearms Museum yellow sheet identifying this rifle as being shipped on May 7, 1896. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and magazine tube retains about 95% strong bright original blue with only minor sharp edge wear and some light scratches on the top flat. Receiver retains 85-90% original case colors, brilliant in sheltered areas, stronger on the left side with balance fading to silver. Buttplate has traces of case colors with moderate pitting on the toe. There is a hairline in the toe, otherwise the wood is sound with normal handling and use marks, a scrape on the forearm and a couple bruises on the wrist with some minor chipping on the toe. Lever retains 60-70% muted case colors and the hammer about 90% dark case colors. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-52425 JR227 (4,500-7,500)
