WALDO PEIRCE (American, 1884-1970) COCKER SPANIELS IN LANDSCAPE. Oil on canvas scene shows two black and brown dogs seated on a grassy bank next to a lake with mountain background. Pine branches frame with upper portion with a large pinecone next to dog. Signed lower right “W. Peirce”. Back inscribed “For the Frasers From Waldo Peirce 23 Aug 1950”. Housed in its original gilt frame with an Edwin O. Hall Bangor, Maine label. PROVENANCE: Given to consignors family directly from the artist. SIZE: 22” x 22”. CONDITION: One tape patch to back which holds together a 2” slit on right side of right dog. Otherwise very good. 9-29026 (1000-1500)
