JOHN CHRISTOPHER MILES (American, 1837-1911) “MEGUNTICOOK MTS, CAMDEN, MAINE”. Large oil on canvas panoramic view of Megunticook Lake at the base of the small Megunticook mountain range. Two people are being ferried across the lake to the small town at the base of the mountain. Unsigned front but having its original label on reverse with title and artist signature. Housed in its original gilt and gesso decorated liner. An extremely rare view by this listed artist. SIZE: 20″ x 40″. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Chad Richards, Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Appears to be backed on aluminum, discolored varnish, restored area in center mountain, in need of cleaning. 9-94688 (5,000-10,000)
