EADWEARD MUYBRIDGE (American, 1830-1904) “FIRST BALLET ACTION MALE FIGURE”. Two rare gelatin negatives, each with two rows of six images. Each are identical to each other in subject, but one with a lighter exposure, the other a heavier exposure. They show a back angle of a nude man performing a ballet move. One of the negatives is marked “Copyrighted 1887, by Eadweard Muybridge” and in right hand corner hand numbered “1357”. Contained in a period heavy paper envelope which has title and number “9.1357” handwritten. SIZE: 9”x 20” and 9-3/4” x 20”. CONDITION: Good. 9-73316-3 (500-1,000)
