*WINCHESTER DELUXE MODEL 1886 LIGHTWEIGHT TAKEDOWN RIFLE WITH ORIGINAL SHIPPING CRATE. Cal. 33 WCF. SN 145057. Rare special order rifle with 24” rapid taper rnd bbl, full magazine, pedestal mounted ivory bead hunting front sight and flat top rear sight. It has very nicely figured 3X American walnut wood with “H” style checkering and capped pistol grip stock with Winchester embossed black hard rubber shotgun buttplate. A Winchester Firearms Museum letter identifying this rifle and indicating shipment October 6, 1908 accompanies it. Also accompanies is the original Winchester marked wooden shipping crate that is pencil marked on the lid “Anderson HDW Co. / New Bethlehem, Pa” and “ORD #7079172A”. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new, appears to be unfired, retaining virtually all of its original factory finish to both metal and wood with only very minor handling and storage nicks and scratches. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. Box is fine with a couple of small chips missing from the lid. 4-52470 JR255 (8,000-15,000)
