JAMES DAVID SMILLIE (American, 1833-1909) NEW YORK LANDSCAPE. Watercolor landscape scene shows water with surrounding rock and tree shore with a mountain and hill background. All under white cloud and blue sky. Signed lower right, “J. Smillie, May ‘74”. Housed in what appears to be its original gilt, carved-wood molded frame with white matte. Smillie worked in the Adirondacks and Catskill areas of New York and contributed scenes to “Picturesque America”. SIZE: 9-1/2” x 7-1/2”. CONDITION: Watercolor is laid on light board.
