DELUXE WINCHESTER SPECIAL ORDER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-90. SN 109503. Exceptional special order rifle with 28” oct to rnd bbl, full magazine, ivory bead combination front sight, Lyman 6A folding rear sight and a Lyman tang sight. It has very beautiful 3X shell grain walnut stock and forearm with “H” style checkering and capped pistol grip stock with crescent buttplate. The buttstock and forend cap are fitted with sling eyes. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this rifle with three special Lyman sights and indicating shipment on July 9, 1896. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 97-98% strong bright original factory blue. Receiver retains virtually all of its original case colors, brilliant in the sheltered areas with the balance fading. Lever, hammer and buttplate retain virtually all of their case colors, muted on the lever, strong and bright on the hammer and slightly muted on the buttplate. Forearm appears to have shrunk slightly, otherwise the wood is fine with only a very few tiny nicks and scratches and some small bruises on the forearm, otherwise retains virtually all of its brilliant piano varnish finish.
