SCARCE AMES MODEL 1833 DRAGOON SWORD.

SCARCE AMES MODEL 1833 DRAGOON SWORD. 34-1/4” blade with rounded back is engraved on the right side “N. P. AMES / CUTLER / SPRINGFIELD / 1837” on the right side and “UNITED STATES” over leaves on the left. The grip has a leather covering over grooved wood with brass wire wrap. CONDITION: Blade is bright with a number of small nicks in the edge. Scabbard has a number of dents and has scattered surface rust and pitting. About 1/2 of the leather covering remains and the wire wrap is loose. The guard has a very dark patina. 4-48588 FS101 (Lowry Estate) (1,000-1,500)
