RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 FACTORY CUTAWAY RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. SN 101. Full nickel finish with 26” oct bbl, full magazine, front sight missing the blade, semi-buckhorn rear sight and uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Rifle has had the left side fully cut away exposing all internal working parts including the left wrist to expose the hammer spring and trigger mechanisms as well as the entire length of the forearm, exposing the chamber and bore as well as the magazine tube. The right side of the receiver has a small cut away exposing the operation of the carrier/lifter mechanism. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains 85-90% original strong nickel-plating with scattered spots of missing nickel turned to dark brown patina. Wood is sound with numerous small nicks and dings and dark oil staining about the wrist, otherwise retains most of its original varnish finish. Mechanics are fine. 4-52426 JR219 (10,000-20,000)
