*BEAUTIFUL DELUXE ENGRAVED WINCHESTER LIGHTWEIGHT MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. SN 126806. Beautiful deluxe rifle with 22″ tapered rnd bbl, 1/2 magazine, pedestal mounted ivory bead hunting front sight and 3-leaf platinum line express rear sight. It has extremely fine, beautifully grained, center crotch cut American walnut wood with “H” style checkering, capped pistol grip stock and crescent buttplate. The receiver is beautifully engraved, Style “6”, in full coverage patterns with large vignette of a standing Bighorn ram on the left side and a smaller vignette of a standing white tail buck on the right side, both surrounded by fine foliate arabesque patterns and wide offsetting ribbons. The engraving extends over the top of the receiver, top tang, bottom of the receiver and about 1″ up the bbl with some light scrolls on the forend cap and heel of the buttplate. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter fully identifying this rifle with $10.00 engraving and also states “Winchester High Velocity” and indicates shipment November 28, 1902. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain 97-98% strong bright original blue. Receiver retains about 98% original blue, slightly thinned on the bottom with some light flaking on the top tang. Forend cap retains most of its bright original blue and the buttplate about 90% blue. Lever retains most of its original case colors, strong and bright in the sheltered areas with the balance fading. Hammer retains most of its bright original case colors. Wood is sound with light handling, storage and use marks with a couple of bruises in the checkering and a gouge on the stock, otherwise retains most of its original piano varnish finish.
