ABBOTT FULLER GRAVES (American, 1859-1936) “A HOT SHOE”. Large oil on canvas scene shows a large white horse being shoed by an elderly blacksmith. The blacksmith has one hoof being worked on and stands next to the forge. The interior of the shop is a barn setting with all of his materials on the wall and floor. Signed lower right “Abbott Graves of Kennebunkport, ME”. Housed in probably its original carved gilt frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 32” x 46”. CONDITION: Very good, some minor inpainting. Attached to back is a conservation report from Yoder Conservation, Cleveland, Ohio dated 2002. 9-71604 (20,000-40,000)
