*SCARCE LC SMITH 3E SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 6829E. Cal. 20 ga. 28″ bbl with matted tapered rip and dual ivory sighting beads. 2-1/2″ chambers IMP.CYL/MOD ejectors and hunter one trigger. Bbl rib is engraved “Hunter Arms Co. Fulton, N.Y.” Receiver engraved in moderate loose scroll, oval with two quail on left plate, oval with two swimming ducks on right plate. Mounted in semi fancy streaky walnut, with checkered splinter forend and black tip insert, checkered pistol grip with horn grip cap, 13-1/2″ to serrated horn butt plate. Bore diameter: left -.616, right -.615. Bore restrictions: left -.015, right -.007. Wall thickness: left -.027, right -.026. Drop at heel: 2″. Drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 5 lbs 15 oz. Accompanied with Cody Firearm Museum fact sheet listing firearm as grade 3E, in 20 gauge, with 28″ bbls and shipped 05-21-1912. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 95-98% orig blue with some muzzle wear, usual light handling marks, some carry wear in chamber area, and some light spotting through the rib. Receiver has 75-80% fading case color, stronger in protected areas, and a blending of silver-gray patina through the bottom of carrying area. Trigger guard has 60-70% orig blue worn to a silver-patina through pistol grip area. Stocks are sound with just a few minor chips around lock plates and a darkened area on each side of trigger plate about 3/4″ back from receiver. Usual light nicks and dings, and carries a fine hand worn patina finish. Forend has the usual dings and a minor depression on bottom near forend metal, and a short hairline crack at right side starting at the forend metal. Checkering is very good. This is an extremely fine example of a rare pre 1913 20 gauge LC Smith. 4-33665 BDT90 (5,000-8,000)
