HORSTMANN ARTILLERY OFFICERS SWORD. 29” single fuller straight blade with etched decoration on both sides. The cross guard has an American eagle and the pommel is an eagle head. The two pieces are joined by a brass chain. Blade is marked “W. H. H & S” on the right side and “PHILADELPHIA” on other. Scabbard has the Horstmann name and stock number 423 stamped on reverse. Also has a chamois cover with silk tie. CONDITION: Fine with slight rub marks on the blade. The fluted bone grip is somewhat dirty, the mounts and scabbard have small losses of gilt finish. 4-48585 FS96 (Lowry Estate) (1,500-2,000)
