WILLIAM PIERCE STUBBS (American, 1842-1909) PORTRAIT OF THE SCHOONER “M.N. HAND”. Fine oil on canvas ship portrait of a three-mast black hull schooner traveling right to left in stormy seas. Bottom sails are up and the name of the ship is shown on the back side. Several men are seen on decks and a wave is cresting off the bow. Sky is dark with glimpses of blue. Signed lower left “WP Stubbs 1884”. Unframed. A nice example in fresh attic condition. A recent find. SIZE: 22” x 36”. CONDITION: Untouched, in need of cleaning and some restoration.
