ORIGINAL CARDBOARD TARGET SHOT BY AD TOPPERWEIN. Ad Topperwein and his wife traveled the country in the early to mid-20th century performing shooting exhibitions on behalf of ammunition companies. Part of the performance included shooting the silhouette of a subject usually on a tin sheet, but with World War II and the need for metals, he used a sheet of cardboard for this image of Uncle Sam. Inscribed “Shot by Ad Topperwein, Winchester Western, August 28/42”. Housed in a simple wood frame. SIZE: 24″ w. x 30″ h. CONDITION: Very good. Overpainted in white except top left corner where inscription is written. 1-8347 AT (800-1,200)
