WALDO PEIRCE (American, 1884-1970) POND LILIES IN A BOWL. Oil on canvas still life shows a blue wash bowl filled with white blooming pond lilies with several falling out on the tabletop. The large leaf in the right corner inscribed “To Leata 1938 Con Amore Waldo”. Housed in a white painted molded wood frame. Back of canvas has original inscription “W Peirce NY For Leata Rowan 4 Feb 1938″. Leata Rowan was the wife of Edward Beatty Rowan (1898-1946). Edward founded and operated the Little Gallery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. SIZE: 20″ x 28”. CONDITION: Very good. One patch to center back which repairs a 2″ slit. 9-28954 (1500-1800)
