*SCARCE LC SMITH CROWN GRADE SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN FWE107297. Cal. 20 ga. 28″ bbls. Matted concave tapered rib, with dual ivory sighting beads. 2-3/4″ chambers IMP.CYL/MOD choke, ejectors, and Hunter One trigger. The right bbl is engraved, “LC Smith Crown Grade.” left bbl, “Made to order by the Hunter Arms Co. INC. Fulton, N.Y.” with about 1″ of chamber wedge engraving and narrow engraved band around muzzle. Receiver is engraved in usual crown pattern with fine foliate arabesque scroll and floral bouquets with oval of two pointing setters in wooded scene on left plate, and two pointers on point on right plate. Trigger guard has floral bouquets surrounded by foliate scroll mounted in fancy nicely figured walnut, with full checkered splinter forend with black tip insert, full checkered pistol grip with hard rubber grip cap 13-3/4″ to serrated hard rubber butt plate. Accompanied with Cody Firearm Museum fact sheet identifying this gun with a ship date of April 25, 1928 on order #25159 and sold to Morley Bros. Bore diameter: left -.615, right -.617. Bore restrictions: left -.008, right -.004. Wall thickness: left -.048, right -.039. Drop at heel: 2″. Drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs 15 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 85-90% orig blue with thinning through the carrying area and also some thinning the last few inches toward the muzzle, and the usual light handling nicks and scrapes. Receiver retains 30-40% fading case colors stronger in protected areas, with balance being a blending to a silver hardened finish. Stocks are sound with just a few minor handling marks and 99% of the professionally restored finish. The butt plate is missing it’s bottom screw.
