RARE ENGRAVED FRANK WESSON SINGLE BARREL RIFLE.

RARE ENGRAVED FRANK WESSON SINGLE BARREL RIFLE. CAL. 36. 26” part octagonal bbl, with extra 12 ga shotgun bbl of the same dimensions. Both are marked “FRANK WESSON WORCESTER MASS. / PAT’D OCT. 25, 1859 & NOV. 11, 1862”. There is a 2-1/2” section between the octagon and round portions of the bbl where the corners have been ground to form a 16-sided surface on the shotgun bbl and 12-sided surface on the rifle. The shotgun bbl extractor is mounted on the right side of the bbl but employs the same mechanism. The rear sight and the tang sight are both missing. The front has been replaced by a Beach folding sight. CONDITION: Excellent. 95% blue on the bbl and 98% of the nickel on the action and buttplate. Mechanically excellent. 4-52705 FS175 (3,000-5,000)
