INLAID MAHOGANY FEDERAL CONSOLE TABLE. Demilune top having crotch mahogany veneers with sunray inlay. Edge banded front and back with mahogany. Skirt with mahogany veneers and a molded edge with a patera oval inlay in multiple colors atop each of the four legs. Four tapering square legs with mahogany veneers on all sides. Ending in a stepped molded edge foot. Piece has pine secondary wood. When flipped over the table has five inset boards which are recessed into the pine top for stabilization. There is glued to the underside of the skirt a piece of a 19th Century Boston newspaper. This type of table could have an American origin, possibly Boston or Baltimore. SIZE: 33” h x 51-1/4” w x 24-1/4” d. CONDITION: There is some veneer damage, repairs and loss. Top has a 4” section of missing veneers and cracks. In need of some restoration, generally intact. 9-29002 (2500-3500)
