*EXTREMELY RARE LC SMITH BY HUNTER ARMS 5E GRADE SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 6811E. Cal. 20 ga. 30″ bbls. Matted tapered concave rib, with single gold sighting bead. 2-1/2″ chambers IMP.MOD/FULL choke, ejectors, and Hunter One trigger. This beautifully engraved gun has tight foliate arabesque scroll surrounding an oval area that has two setters on point in a woodland setting on left plate, a floral bouquet surrounded by foliate scroll across bottom, and an oval with two pointers on point in a forest scene on right. There are floral bouquets behind the ovals on each plate, and behind the hinge pin on each side of frame. There’s a 1-1/2″ engraved wedge down each chamber, and narrow engraving band around the muzzle. Mounted with fancy walnut, full checkered splinter forend with black tip insert, wraparound checkered round knob pistol grip, 14-1/4″ to serrated hard rubber butt plate. Accompanied with Cody Firearms Museum fact sheet fully identifying this gun with a ship date of April 26, 1912. Bore diameter: left -.613, right -.613. Bore restrictions: left -.021, right -.015. Wall thickness: left -.031, right -.031. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″. Drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Weight: 6 lbs 5 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 95-98% orig blue with just a few usual light handling marks, and a small lightly cleaned area about 7″ from chamber on right bbl. Receiver retains 50-60% orig fading case colors, but very strong in protected areas. The balance of the receiver is a blending of a silver hardening finish. Stocks are sound with only a couple of very minor nicks, and retain virtually all of a wonderful restored finish with an orig style replacement butt plate.
