DAISY BB GUN 1896 CALENDAR. Extremely scarce stone lithographed illustration of two young lads in a skiff, testing their marksmanship prowess with the Daisy “Model ’96 Air Rifle”. Lithographed by Calvert Lith. Co., Detroit for the Daisy Manufacturing Co., Plymouth, Michigan. An interesting historical footnote to the first Daisy BB gun is that it was invented by Clarence Hamilton in 1886 for the Plymouth Iron Windmill Co. as a promotional premium given to every farmer who bought a windmill. The gun became such a huge success that in 1895 the nearly insolvent windmill company changed it’s name to the Daisy Manufacturing Co. and they manufactured the guns full time in place of windmills. SIZE: 9″ w x 11″ h. CONDITION: Near excellent with just a few very minor surface blemishes and light soiling to the top date sheet. Includes original full date pad and retains the original brass grommet. Almost impossible to improve on this fine example. 1-8423 PF (7,000-9,000)
