Set one with single sighting bead that is missing. 2-1/2″ chambers CYL./IMP.CYL. ejectors and beaver tail forend. Number two set with single ivory sighting bead. 2-3/4″ chambers IMP.MOD/FULL. Ejectors and splinter forend. Both bbl sets are marked on right bbl with “Sir Joseph Whitworth fluid compressed steel” and left “Made to order by the Hunter Arms Co. INC. Fulton N.Y.” and “LC Smith Monogram Grade” on rib. The fully engraved receiver is a very fine tight scroll and flower blossoms, with left plate having two pigeons in flight, with similar pattern on right plate, and a duck in flight across the bottom. The straight grip trigger guard has the tight scroll and flower blossoms across bow, and lesser scroll around screws and SN. Mounted with streaky nicely figured walnut the splinter forend is fully checkered with black tip insert beaver tail. Forend has wraparound checkering and matches the color of the stock better, and is also marked with the number one. Checkered straight grip stock 13-3/4″ to serrated horn butt plate. Set one: Bore diameter: left -.619, right -.621. Bore restrictions: left -.013, right -.003. Wall thickness: left -.017, right -.011. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″. Drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Weight: 6 lbs 5 oz. Accompanied with Cody Firearm Museum fact sheet identifying as Monogram shipped 09-08-1925 order number 15795 to G.A. Beard & Company. Not listed as a 2-bbl set, one would surmise that it was returned at a later date as all work appears to be that of the factory. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl set one with beaver tail retains what one would suppose is all it’s factory restored finish. There is a small dent on bottom of right bbl about 5″ forward of forend. As mentioned above the set of bbls is missing it’s sighting bead. Bores are shiny. Bbl set two with splinter forend retains 95-98% of what appears to be orig factory blue. With just a small amount of muzzle wear and a couple of light handling marks. Bores are bright and shiny. Receiver is mostly silver hardening patina color with 20-25% case colors visible in protected areas. Trigger guard has about 50% orig blue mostly on bow as grip area is worn to a silver patina. Beaver tail forend is solid with a nice handworn patina color and good checkering. Splinter forend is fully checkered and darker with very good checkering. Stock is solid with only a few minor handling marks and retains most of it’s professionally restored factory type finish with good checkering. Mechanics are crisp. 4-33662 BDT81 (55,000-85,000)
